Upcoming Electrify Everything workshops

Electrify Everything will be co-hosting two workshops next month: one on the basics of electrification in Coon Rapids and one on the details of installing a heat pump in Woodbury. The “Get Amped” workshop will provide a broad introduction to weatherization and electrification, and the “Deep Dive” workshop will cover more in-depth information on heat pumps. Both workshops are open to Twin Cities residents.

Calculate your heat pump operation costs

Before you install your air source heat pump, try the Minnesota Air Source Heat Pump Collaborative’s new Cost of Heating and Cooling Calculator. Before you upgrade, you may want to weatherize your home to make sure your heat pump is sized correctly and save on energy costs. Once you have a heat pump, you can contact Xcel Energy to sign up for the electric space heating rate to save money on heating every winter.

Hot water? Cool savings.

Did you know water heating is the second largest source of energy use in the average Minnesota home? Choosing an efficient electric water heater when your current system needs to be replaced can save energy — and money. Heat pump water heaters (HPWHs) use electricity to move heat, instead of generate it, which makes them far more efficient than traditional water heaters. A HPWH could save you up to $550 per year.

Panel replacement rebates available near you

Electrification lowers your home’s carbon footprint by switching from using natural gas to electricity for your everyday activities. Before electrifying, work with an electrician to make sure your panel can handle the additional demand, or upgrade it if it can’t. Many utilities and local governments offer generous rebates for panel upgrades. Find available rebates for this project and more on our website.
