Prepare for an ASHP with weatherization
Heating systems are designed with factors like your home size, insulation, and climate zone in mind. Homes that are well insulated and air sealed require less heating (and cooling) capacity. If you’re planning to install an air source heat pump, an energy audit can help you better understand your home’s insulation to plan ahead.
Electric space heating rate takes effect Oct. 1
If you’re an Xcel Energy customer who uses electricity for your primary source of heat, you may be eligible for 42% savings on all electricity from Oct. 1 to May 31. Customers can enroll when they submit rebate paperwork or by contacting customer service.
Electrification with 100 amps may be possible
Historically, people with 100-amp electrical panels have been told they need to upgrade their panel to be able to electrify their homes. However, many homes rarely have that much demand, making 100 amps enough for new electric appliances. Panel upgrades can be expensive, so being able to electrify without needing a new panel could open new doors for many Minnesotans.
